De 1989 à 1994 les Needs ont concocté un son cinglant et psyché inspiré des groupes garage rock sixties. Avec "le Kaiser" Lucas Trouble aux manettes (clavier des Vietnam Veterans) ils sortent trois imparables opus 'Dyin’on Blue Pebbles' (1992), 'As the wreck knows the waves' (1993), 'Hatemarket' (1994), qui sont autant de prétextes à des prestations scéniques ou s’enchaînent originaux et reprises du Dream syndicate, 13th Floor Elevator, … En hommage à Henri Gauby, ami et producteur du groupe décédé en décembre 2004, The Needs, composé entre autres du batteur des Cowboys from outerspace, reviennent pour un concert au Poste à Galène avant de se reformer et sortir un nouvel album 'Songs from the grave' en Novembre 2006 sur Nova Express. En Février 2009, le groupe sort son cinquième album 'Santa Rita' (18 titres) toujours sur Nova Express mais perd son batteur historique, Henry Costa (Cowboys from outerspace) (Source : Groupe).
